What is RPAC and how does it benefit me as a real estate agent?
It's YOUR PAC!
RPAC is the REALTOR Political Action Committee. A PAC is a committee that raises money for the political campaign of candidates that support their goals, opinions, and ideals.
RPAC is your PAC. Your PAC protects your chosen profession and everyone's right to homeownership.
What does RPAC do for me? Please consider these facts:
- RPAC is currently working to ensure that rural communities, in Tennessee as well as other parts of the country, have access to high-speed internet.
- RPAC is fighting for affordable housing.
- RPAC is continually working to keep the National Flood Insurance Program in place.
- RPAC was successful in supporting a bill in the Tennessee Legislature that would authorize direct payments to be made to a company that is solely owned by a broker, affiliate broker or other person licensed by the Tennessee Real Estate Commission.
- RPAC was successful in supporting a bill that will allow Tennessee real estate instructors to continue to offer their CE courses via ZOOM (etc.) without ARELLO approval.
- RPAC ensured that real estate licensees were deemed essential during the pandemic beginning in 2020 and going forward into 2021.
- When the Professional Privilege Tax was first enacted, RPAC ensured that all licensees – except for Principal Brokers – were exempt from this $400 fee. RPAC has now been used to ensure that all Principal Brokers are now exempt from this $400 annual Professional Privilege Tax.
Contributions to RPAC are not deductible for federal income tax purposes. Contributions are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal. 70% of each contribution is used by your state PAC to support state and local political candidates; 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 52 U.S.C. 30116.
